unforgettablefeeling said: That's sad. In an interview of Hummels in goal(.)com he speaks about the CB-position in the team. He says that it seems like Badstuber would be prefered by Löw anway - he has a sure place there and the other CB-place seems to be contested by him (Hummels) and Mertesacker. Quite sad that no one talks about our Benni..

    Hey hun,

Yea I saw the Mats interview too.

I expected Badstuber to be a definite but he still hasn’t even joined the NT training yet so who knows.

I don’t expect Benni to play from the start and the whole match every NT game, but I will be very surprised if he doesn’t make it to the final squad.

He seems to have recovered from his injury well and seems happy in training and from the pics Jogi seems to be on good terms with him. We’ll just have to play the waiting game and see what happens sadly.

Anonymous said: Do you know which back number Benni will have? :)

    Hiya,

It’s either numbers 3 or 4. All the promo shots he has worn the number 4 jersey (which I totally love because obviously it’s the same as his Schalke jersey….and less confusing for him…after the last incident - joking hehe)

But since he did those promo’s, he has worn the number 3 jersey and the DFB shop still lists him as number 3.

Hehe, Lydia and I were only saying this the other day :P

I quite like Benni’s facial hair though :o)

Anonymous said: There are many points that made me thought that Bene has a lot of Neuer. For example: I have often seen him on the vip stand this year - mostly during his injuries - and he was always completely blank. There were no cheers of encouragement for his team, no emotions about false refereeing desicions and so on. For me it looked like he was sick over Schalke. Like it was with Neuer at the end.

    I completely disagree.

Does this look like he doesn’t care??? (and the photo is NOT old, it was taken less than a month ago)

He goes to home games when he’s injured and he often talks about watching the away games on TV when he cannot play or attend and how much it bothers him when he can’t play for Schalke anymore.

Benni isn’t Neuer and I think the comparison is grossly unfair.

I’m not posting any more messages about this subject

tommy1904 said: I do also think that Benny is somehow very similar than Neuer. They are very good friend, and I am kind of afraid that Neuer, Lahm & Co. will try to talk him into an arrangement with Bayern during this summer in the nationalteam as it happend to Neuer in the worldcup 2010. I think at some point Benny will go to Bayern but not yet this summer. Maybe/properbaly/unfortunately (?) in one or two years... But thats business... And maybe I am even wrong :-) - Hopefully!!!

    Hey,

    Thank you for following :o)

I understand where you’re coming from and I can see why you think this. But (and I say this with no disrespect to Neuer) I think Benni is more intelligent than him and less easily swayed.

I don’t think Benni is the type of person to be persuaded by other people. I am pretty confident that he knows his own mind and that any decision he makes will be his own and without influenence from anyone else.

And why just Bayern players whispering in his in with their “sssh just come”? Benni is quite close to Mats Hummels and there are nearly as many Dortmunders on the NT as there are Bayern players, why wouldn’t they be telling him the same thing? (although I would never imagine Benni would move there, the same principle applies….probably more so as Dortmund have actually won trophies over the last 2 years wheras Bayern haven’t)

As I said yesterday, IMO, there is no benefit to Benni moving to Bayern, he’s Captain of Schalke, he’s on the NT, he plays every game for Schalke (when he’s fit) he’s a local boy, he says he’s happy, he says he will honour his contract, Schalke have said they don’t want to sell him…Schalke are playing CL football (and did amazingly well in the CL last year and then great in the EL this year and have qualified for CL football next season) I just don’t see him going there. I don’t think he would do that to the fans after everything that happened with Neuer.

Maybe I have too much faith in him or maybe I trust him too much. I know that everyone thought Neuer would stay at Schalke and obviously that didn’t happen. But I can’t stress this enough, Benni isn’t Neuer. Benni’s strong and opinionated, he’s honest and upfront, he’s not afraid to say the truth. And he says things how they are and I trust him. He said money is not a deciding factor for him. He said before that football should be less about money and more about the game and loyalty.

I don’t know if he’ll stay at Schalke forever, we can hope and regardless of the fact that I am a Schalker, I want what is best for him and his career and I don’t think that is Bayern.

Anonymous said: Sorry. My question was not mean nastily. My native language is german and they did not sound very funny to me. They talked about Jermaine being team captain today and Hans said that is was a practise for the next season. The expositor asked if he would know something that know one else knows because for himself Bene becomes captain again. After a few seconds of silence the talked about Bene and munich. I should not bother you with my questions.

No it’s fine. My reply wasn’t meant to sound rude. I apologise if it did.

Nothing points to Benni going to Bavaria, all of the rumours of it have been denounced by both Benni and Schalke and IMO, I don’t think Benni is the kind of person to leave his team to play for a rival.

And he would get nothing out of playing for Bayern.

He plays every game for Schalke, he’s being regularly called up to the NT and he’s captain.

Bayern have just renewed Van Buyten’s contract and were rumoured to have bought Dante from Gladbach (I say rumoured as I don’t know if it’s a done deal now or not..) they don’t need another defender.

Benni is a smart guy, he knows that if he went there he would be on the bench more than playing and that frustrates him enough when he can’t play through injury, let alone when he’s healthy.

He’s too good to sit on someone else’s bench.

And I know everyone is sensitive after Neuer-gate but Benni isn’t Neuer.

Benni is so intelligent and honest and that’s why I don’t think it will happen. And he’s said so many times that he will fulfill his contract with Schalke.

If Benni leaves Schalke, I expect that he will play outside of Germany. He said recently that he wouldn’t rule out playing somewhere else in Europe.

I think that if there was any truth to the Bayern rumours, it would be officially announced by Schalke and Benni in a press conference and not talked about at a friendly game.

This isn’t meant to sound rude or nasty (that is not my intention) and you’re not bothering me :o)
